Sanatana dharma or Hindu dharma or Hinduism is scientific because it is based on what can be known, intuitive and experienced. No blind faith is needed to qualify for heaven. The sages had deep insight into not only spiritual but also worldly matters. The Rigveda (10.22.14) states that the earth is round, revolves around the sun, etc., yet even Hindu children do not hear about it. Yoga is a verified science, and anyone who rejects it must understand it before calling it pseudoscience. It is not even a definition religious in nature or even by a distance. Also Hatha Yoga is depicted as a form of aerobics and nothing more.
Here we are showing many more examples of scientific proofs of some day to day things that all Hindus do and this gives a clear picture of Hinduism which is a very scientific religion. There are many other proofs of Hinduism, it is a great science in which we get all the knowledge of any field in science like physics, chemistry, medicine, astronomy, maths, biology etc.
1. ‘Namaskar’ – Joining Both Palms Together To Greet
In Hindu culture, people greet each other with folded hands (joining palms together) – which is called “Namaskar”. The general reason behind this tradition is that the greeting with folded palms means respect. However, scientifically speaking, joining both the hands ensures the joining of the tips of all the fingers together; Which represent the pressure points of the eyes, ears and brain. It is said that pressing them together activates the pressure points, which helps us to remember that person for a long time. And, there are no germs because we don’t make any physical contact!
2. Throwing Coins Into A River
The general argument for throwing coins in the river is that it brings good luck. However, scientifically speaking, most of the currency used in ancient times was made of copper, unlike the stainless steel coins of today. Copper is an important metal which is very useful for the human body. Throwing coins in the river was one way our ancestors ensured that we consumed enough copper as part of the water as rivers were the only source of drinking water. By making it a custom, it was ensured that we all follow this practice.
3. Applying Tilak/KumKum/Tika On The Forehead
On the forehead, between the two eyebrows, is a spot that has been considered a major nerve point in the human body since ancient times. The tilak is believed to prevent the loss of “energy”, the red ‘kumkum’ between the eyebrows is said to maintain energy in the human body and regulate various levels of concentration. While applying kumkum, the points located on the mid-brow area and the Aden-chakra are automatically suppressed. This also facilitates the supply of blood to the facial muscles.
4. Why Do Temples Have Bells
Those who are visiting the temple should ring the bell before entering the inner sanctum (garbhagudi or sanctum sanctorum or sanctum-chamber) where the main idol is kept. According to Agama Shastra, the bell is used to give sound to keep evil forces away and the ringing of the bell is pleasant to the Lord. However, the scientific reason behind the bells is that their ring clears our mind and helps us to stay sharp and maintain our complete concentration on the object of devotion. These bells are made in such a way that when they produce sound it creates unity of left and right parts of our brain. As soon as we ring the doorbell, it produces a loud and lasting sound that lasts for at least 7 seconds in Eco mode. The duration of the resonance is enough to activate all the seven healing centers of our body. This clears our mind of all negative thoughts.
5. Eating While Sitting On The Floor
This tradition is not just about eating while sitting on the floor, it is about sitting in the “sukhasana” position and then eating. Sukhasana is the position we generally use for yoga asanas. When you sit on the floor, you usually sit cross-legged – in sukhasana or adha padmasana (half lotus), which are postures that instantly bring about a sense of calm and help with digestion, it is believed that It automatically triggers signals for you. brain to prepare the stomach for digestion.
6. Should Not Sleep With Head Towards South Direction
Myth is that it invites ghosts or death but science says that this is because the human body has its own magnetic field (also called the magnetic field of the heart, because of the flow of blood) and the Earth is a giant It’s a kiss. When we sleep with our head facing north, our body’s magnetic field becomes exactly opposite to the Earth’s magnetic field. This causes problems related to blood pressure and our heart needs to work harder to overcome this asymmetry of magnetic fields. Apart from this, another reason is that our body has a significant amount of iron in our blood. When we sleep in this position, iron from the whole body starts collecting in the brain. It can cause headaches, Alzheimer’s disease, cognitive decline, Parkinson’s disease and brain degeneration.
7. Piercing the Ears
Piercing the ears has a great importance in Hindu rites. Many physicians and philosophers believe that ear piercing develops intelligence, thinking power and decision making ability. Sushruta Rishi, the foremost surgeon of Ayurveda, describes the master sensitive spot on the head as Adhipati Marma, where all the nerves are aligned. The crest protects this place. Below, in the brain, is the brahmarandhra, where the sushumna (nerve) comes from the lower part of the body. In yoga, the Brahmarandhra is the highest, seventh chakra, with a thousand-petalled lotus. It is the center of knowledge. The pointed crests help promote this center and preserve its subtle energy known as ojas.
10. Charan Sparsh (Touching Feet)
Usually the person whose feet you are touching is either old or pure soul. When they accept your respect that has come from your low ego (and is called your reverence), their hearts emit positive thoughts and energy (called their compassion) that flow through their hands and toes. reaches you through In essence, the complete circuit enables the flow of energy and amplifies cosmic energy, triggering an instant connection between the two minds and hearts. To an extent, the same is achieved through handshakes and hugs. The nerves starting from our brain spread throughout your body. These nerves or wires end in the toes of your hands and feet. When you connect the fingers of your hand with the toes of their opposite feet, a circuit is immediately formed and the energies of the two bodies are linked. Your fingers and palms become ‘receptors’ of energy and the other person’s feet become ‘givers’ of energy.
11. Women Wear Toe Ring
Wearing toe rings is not just the significance of married women but there is science behind it. Generally toe rings are worn on the second toe. A particular nerve from the second toe connects the uterus and passes to heart. Wearing toe ring on this finger strengthens the uterus. The basic principle behind fasting is to be found in Ayurveda. This ancient Indian system of medicine sees the root cause of many diseases as the accumulation of toxins in the digestive tract. Regular cleaning of toxins keeps a person healthy. By fasting the digestive organs get rest and all the systems of the body get purified and cured. Complete fasting is good for health, and occasional consumption of hot lemon juice during fasting prevents flatulence. Since the human body, as explained by Ayurveda, is composed of 80% liquid and 20% solid, like the Earth, the gravitational force of the Moon affects the fluid content of the body. It causes emotional imbalance in the body, causing some people to become tense, irritable and violent. Fasting acts as an antidote, as it reduces the amount of acid in the body, helping people to maintain their sanity. Research shows that calorie restriction has major health benefits such as lower risk of cancer, heart disease, diabetes, immune disorders etc.

It is interesting to note that there is a physical significance of applying vermilion by married women. Modern vermilion is the purified and powdered form of cinnabar, the main form in which mercury sulfide occurs naturally. In ancient times, vermilion was prepared by mixing turmeric-lime, other herbs and mercury metal. Mercury also activates sexual desire apart from controlling blood pressure due to its intrinsic properties. It also explains why vermilion is prohibited for widows. The Vedic sages knew the benefits of Tulsi and that’s why they recognized it as a goddess and gave a clear message to the entire community that people educated or illiterate need to take care of it. We try to save it because it is like a sanjeevani for mankind. Tulsi has medicinal properties. It is a remarkable antibiotic.
